How To Crochet Simple 3D Flower

Materials

  • Size 10 cotton thread
  • 1.5 mm steel crochet hook

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • tr = treble crochet

Instructions

Round 1:

  1. Start with a Slip Knot: Make a loop and create a slip knot.
  2. Chain 5: Complete a chain of 5 stitches.
  3. Form a Ring: Slip stitch into the first chain to form a small ring.
  4. Weave in Tail: As an option, weave in the starting tail as you crochet.
  5. First Petal:
    • Work the following sequence into the ring: 1 sc, 3 dc, 1 sc.
  6. Repeat for 4 Petals: Repeat the petal sequence three more times to create a total of 4 petals.
  7. Complete the Round: Slip stitch into the first single crochet of the round.

Round 2:

  1. Slip Stitch Bases: Look toward the back for the bottom strands of the first sc; slip stitch there.
  2. Chain 4: Create a chain space for the next round.
  3. Slip Stitch Next Petal: Find the base of the last single crochet in the first petal and slip stitch.
  4. Repeat on Each Petal: Work the slip stitch, chain 4, and slip stitch around each petal for a total of four chain spaces.
  5. Join the Round: Slip stitch to the beginning stitch to finish the round.

Round 3:

  1. Petal Sequence (in each ch-4 space):
    • Work 1 sc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc.
    • Repeat: 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc (creating two petals per space).
  2. Complete Petals: Work this sequence into each of the four chain spaces to form a total of 8 petals.
  3. Finish the Round: Slip stitch at the base of the round to complete it.

Round 4:

  1. Slip Stitch and Chain 4: Similar to Round 2, but creating spaces behind each petal.
  2. Find Bases: Spot and slip stitch into the base of the single crochet stitches.
  3. Create 8 Chain Spaces: Slip stitch, chain 4 around the base behind each petal.

Round 5:

  1. Final Petal Sequence (in each ch-4 space):
    • Slip stitch, chain 3, 4 dc, chain 3, slip stitch.
  2. Repeat for All Spaces: Repeat this pattern in each of the 8 chain spaces to form 8 new petals.
  3. Finish the Flower: Make the last slip stitch to join the round, then fasten off the thread by cutting it and weaving in the end with a needle.

Finishing

  • Secure the Yarn: After trimming, weave the end securely into the middle of the flower and snip off any excess.
