You’ll use soft, snugly yarn to crochet this friendly seal, bringing it to life one loop at a time. Once done, you’ll have a squishy little seal friend ready for cuddles and play. It’s a heartwarming addition to any room or a sweet gift for a loved one that spreads the joy of handmade charm.

Materials Needed

  • Hook: 6.0 millimeter hook for a standard size seal. For a smaller seal, use a 3.0 millimeter hook and size 4 yarn.
  • Yarn: Sweet Snuggles Light or any super bulky yarn of your choice.
  • Eyes: 10 millimeter safety eyes.
  • Filling: Polyester fiberfill stuffing.
  • Additional: Black yarn, yarn needle, scissors, stitch marker, and optional pins.

Crochet Instructions

Body

  1. Start: Chain 2.
  2. Foundation Round: Single crochet 8 in the second chain from the hook. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.
  3. Round 1: Increase in every stitch to have a total of 16 stitches.
  4. Round 2-6: Single crochet in every stitch around.
  5. Round 7-9: Continue with a single crochet in every stitch. Include a bobble stitch for texture if desired.

Face

  1. Nose: Cut a piece of black yarn for the nose, leaving enough tail for sewing.
  2. Attaching the Nose: Go up through one side of the increase stitch in the middle of the round, then down through the other side. Tie off, leaving a tail for sewing.
  3. Mouth and Snout: Place the snout piece in the middle of the body, and single crochet around the edge to join.
  4. Detailing: Chain 3, single crochet in the second chain, half double crochet in the third chain. Combine the next two single crochets. Slip stitch the last two stitches together. Fasten off and weave the tail into the body.

Finishing Touches

  • Stuffing: Fill the body with polyester fiberfill to your desired firmness.
  • Eyes: Attach the safety eyes to your seal. Secure them with fabric fusion or glue.
  • Trimming: Pull out any excess yarn and trim to finish.

Tips for Success

  • Starting the Body: Use a slip knot and chain two method for fluffy yarn. For non-fluffy yarn, consider the magic circle method for a neater finish.
  • Adjusting Size: Change the yarn size or hook to customize your seal’s size.
  • Adding Features: Feel free to crochet additional pieces like arms or legs and attach them to the body for more detail.

Enjoy crafting your very own no sew baby seal amigurumi. Reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance with this pattern!
