Pattern Instructions

Front Panels

  1. Foundation Chain: Ch 35 for larger size, (original tutorial starts with ch 29).
  2. Row 1: Hdc in the 3rd chain from hook and across.
  3. Cable Stitches: This part involves creating twists. Be sure to follow Chandi DIY’s original tutorial for detailed instructions on this.
  4. Adjust Rows and Stitches: For your desired width:
    • Left Panel: Start with 15 hdc, cable stitch, 5 hdc, cable stitch, and 1 hdc.
    • Right Panel: The mirrored version of the left.
  5. Length Adjustments: Add additional rows of hdc to reach a total of 50 rows if you want a longer cardigan.

Back Panel

  1. Foundation Chain: Ch 81.
  2. Row 1: Hdc in the 3rd chain from hook and hdc in each stitch across for a total of 79 hdc.
  3. Rows 2-50: Continue adding rows of hdc until you reach desired length (matching the front panels).

Sleeves

  1. Foundation Chain: Start from sleeve cuffs directly.
  2. Ribbing: Create using tighter loops, starting from the bottom and working up.
  3. Main Sleeve: Incorporate hdc rows till you achieve the appropriate sleeve length.

Assembly of Cardigan

  1. Attach Shoulder Panels: Use the invisible seam stitch with a darning needle and double-pull yarn through the outside loops only.
  2. Attach Sleeves to Body: Align the front and back panels with the top of the sleeve centered. Insert stitch markers before sewing with the same seam stitch.
  3. Seam Side Panels and Sleeves: Use slip stitches for cuffs and mattress stitch for other seams.

Embroider Flowers

  1. Embroidery: Use green and white yarn to create small flowers over the front panels and sleeves. These flowers add a decorative touch to the cardigan.

Edging and Button Band

  1. Bottom Ribbing: Add a 2-inch ribbing border along the bottom edge of the cardigan. This will provide extra length.
  2. Button Band:
    • Use a 4mm hook.
    • Follow a similar hdc pattern, making buttonholes according to your button size.
  3. Add Buttons: Use normal thread and a small needle to sew in buttons along the band.

Final Touches

  1. Sew Loose Ends: Ensure all loose yarn tails are sewn in properly to have a clean look.
  2. Fit Check: Ensure cardigan fits well and adjust any discrepancies in size or sleeve position.
  3. Block Your Cardigan if desired, to shape and smooth out stitches.
