  5. Work 3 double crochets into the magic ring.

  9. Chain 1, fasten off and cut the yarn.

Round 2:

  1. Change to the new color by making a slip knot.
  2. Attach the new color in any chain-2 space from the previous round with a slip stitch.
  3. Chain 3 (counts as the first double crochet) and work 2 more double crochets into the same space.
  4. [In the next chain-2 space] Work 3 double crochets, chain 2, and 3 more double crochets into the same space.
  5. Repeat step 4 in each chain-2 space around.
  6. Work 3 double crochets back in the same initial chain 2 space to complete the last corner.
  7. Chain 2, slip stitch into the third chain from the beginning.
  8. Chain 1, fasten off, and cut the yarn.

Round 3:

  1. Change to the new color by making a slip knot.
  2. Attach the new color in any chain-2 space from the previous round with a slip stitch.
  3. Chain 3 (counts as the first double crochet), work 2 more double crochets into the same space.
  4. [In the next chain-2 space] Work 3 double crochets, chain 2, and 3 more double crochets.

Border and Loop:

  3. On the fourth side, single crochet until you reach the first double crochet of the next three double crochet cluster.
  4. Chain 4, skip the next two stitches, then continue single crochet in each stitch to the end of the row.
  5. Slip stitch to the first single crochet of the round.
  6. Chain 1, fasten off, and cut the yarn.

Note: Make two granny squares using the above steps.

Assembly:

  1. Lay both squares on top of each other, aligning the chain loop openings.
  2. Start slip stitching both squares together:
    • Insert the hook into the corner stitch of both squares.
    • Pull yarn through both loops on each square, and slip stitch.
    • Chain 1 and repeat for each stitch along the sides.
    • Slip stitch and chain 1 in each stitch until you reach the final corner.

Final Touches:

  1. Fasten off, cut the yarn, turn the pouch inside out to reveal the finished side.
  2. Sew in any remaining yarn ends using a darning needle.
  3. Tighten the magic ring to close the center of the square.

Closure:

  1. Chain a smoothed 50 chains to make a closing loop.
  2. Attach it to the middle double crochet on the fourth side of one granny square using a slip stitch to close the pouch.

Inserting Items:

Insert your desired items, and close the pouch by slipping the chain loop through the opening made earlier.

Your granny pouch is now complete! Enjoy your new creation.
