Flower Motif and Panels

  1. Make a Slip Knot:
    • Start by making a slip knot.
  2. Foundation Chain:
    • Chain a multiple of 10. For one side panel, chain 40 (+7 chains: total 47).
  3. Row 1:
    • Skip the first 6 chains.
    • In the 7th chain, make (1 tr, ch 2, 1 tr).
    • Chain 3, skip 4 chains, in the next chain, make 1 sc. Chain 3, skip 4 chains, in the next chain, make a V-stitch (1 tr, ch 5, 1 tr).
    • Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.
    • Finish by making (1 tr, ch 2, 1 tr) in the last chain.
  4. Row 2:
    • Chain 4 and turn (this counts as 1 sc, ch 3).
    • In the single crochet of the previous row, make a V-stitch.
    • Chain 3, in the chain-5 space of the V-stitch from the previous row, make 1 sc. Chain 3, in the next single crochet, make a V-stitch.
    • Repeat from * to * until the end.
    • Finish with chain 3 and 1 sc in the last chain-5 space.
  5. Row 3:
    • Chain 6 and turn (this counts as 1 tr, ch 2).
    • In the first single crochet, make (1 tr, ch 2, 1 tr).
    • Chain 3, in the chain-5 space of the V-stitch from the previous row, make 1 sc. Chain 3, in the next single crochet, make a V-stitch.
    • Repeat from * to * until the end.
    • Finish with (1 tr, ch 2, 1 tr) in the final sc.
  6. Repeat Rows 2 and 3:
    • Continue alternating between Row 2 and Row 3 until the panel reaches the desired length.

Panels and Assembling

  1. Back Panel:
    • Chain a multiple of 10 + 7, reaching the length from shoulder to shoulder. For example, chain 80 (+7 chains: total 87).
    • Make 33 rows (alternating Rows 2 and 3).
  2. Front Panels:
    • Chain half of the back panel (for example, chain 40 + 7).
    • Make 33 rows and then add an extra 5 rows for shoulder shaping.
  3. Sleeves:
    • Chain a multiple of 10, reaching the sleeve width you desire (for example, chain 60 + 7).
    • Make 40 rows or until the sleeve length desired.
  4. Assembly:
    • Shoulder Seams: Whip stitch the shoulder seams together.
    • Sleeves: Attach and whip stitch the sleeves to the body aligning the middle of the sleeve with the shoulder seam.
    • Side Seams and Sleeves: Whip stitch from the bottom of the cardigan to the armpit and down the sleeve.

Front Tie

  1. Chain: Make a very tight chain of 28 inches or the length desired.
