Along the process, you have the freedom to customize the length to suit your preferences, ensuring each pair is perfectly tailored to you. With just a hook and some yarn, embark on this crafting project that promises both warmth on cool days and convenience for all your tasks. Enjoy the process of making something uniquely yours.

Materials Needed

  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Weight 3 yarn

Tips Before You Start

  • Ensure you chain an even number of chains for easier adjustments.
  • For snug gloves, start with 24 chains. For looser gloves, begin with 26 chains.
  • Increase the length by adding more rounds of half double crochets before the thumb hole.
  • Adjust the thumb hole size by chaining more or less between the specified stitches.
  • Make the gloves narrower or wider by decreasing more or fewer stitches.
  • To lengthen the gloves after decreasing, add more rounds of half double crochets without decreasing.

Pattern Instructions

Starting Chain

  • Make a Chain: Chain enough to wrap around your palm comfortably.
  • Join: Chain 24 (or 26 for a looser fit). Join in the round with a slip stitch.

Base Round

4

Round Setup: Chain one, then half double crochet in the first chain. Place a stitch marker in this first stitch.

  • First Round: Half double crochet in each chain around. Slip stitch in the first stitch to join.

Thumb Hole Creation

5

Second Round: Repeat the process for another round, marking the first stitch of the new round.

Thumb Hole: Make 11 half double crochets, chain 8, and then, flipping the work to test around your thumb, ensure it fits. Flip back, chain 8, and skipping two stitches, continue as below.

1

Building Up

Following Rounds:

  • Insert your hook in the third stitch for a half double crochet, including the one just worked.
  • Continue with a slip stitch to join the round and chain one to begin the next.
  • In each new round, mark the first stitch, and work one half double crochet in each stitch around to the marked stitch.
  • Every few rounds, perform a half double crochet decrease over two stitches and mark this new stitch.

2

Wrist Length

  1. Desired Length: Repeat the last step until you achieve the desired wrist size.
  2. Further Lengthening: Continue to work one half double crochet in each stitch without decreasing to lengthen the gloves as desired.

Finishing Touches

3

Ribbing: Finish by making the ribbing at the end of your desired length.

  • Weaving in Ends: Securely weave in all ends to complete your gloves.

Follow these instructions, and feel free to customize your gloves as you see fit. Happy crocheting!
